Slashdot

Did you know that ants have built in pedometers?  Or how about this, if there are pictures of eyes in the same room with an "honesty box" (those little boxes where you take something and put money in the box on the honor system) the amount of money put into the box is much higher.  Slashdot is a blog that is updated by scientists and the really cool thing is that they seem to all focus on different areas.  There is tons of information here.  Just because it is Summertime doesn't mean we have to quit learning.  Take a look at this great site.  It is definately fascinating and Im not even a science buff! http://science.slashdot.org/

Frugal For Life

Frugal For Life is just a really great website.  I wasn't sure I was going to like it at first but then I found the section titled "Odd Searches".  I can relate to this section well!  The author of this website took it a step further than I do.  I am always checking to see how people find my websites and find it interesting.  This author not only looked to see where traffic was coming from but took the time to research and answer the questions the orginal searcher was looking for.  The part on using herbs to get rid of debt is particularly fascinating.  I may have to just give it a try!

Coast to Coast AM with George Noory

So this is a little different but it is one of my favorites.  I am not a huge conspiracy theory fan but I do believe in UFO's and life on other planets and I also believe there is a lot of information that our governement doesn't share with us for whatever reasons.
When it comes to Coast To Coast AM though, I have been listening to radio show forever and a day it seems.  Clear back to when Art Bell was hosting.  Sometimes the information and guests are kind of boring for me but more often than not I lose a lot of sleep because I just have to stay awake to hear what the guests have to say.
Coast to Coast is not all about aliens and conspiracy theories, don't get me wrong there.  One of my shows every year is Ghost to Ghost on halloween when listeners call in and share ghost stories.  I also love the pictures they post from listeners who claim to have gotten a picture of a ghost.  They really do cover all aspects of our lives on this show and it is a lot of fun.  If you are at all interested in any of this stuff and haven't yet found Coast to Coast, now is the time to take a look!

Celebrity Gossip

Have you ever wondered why we are so fascinated with celebrities and their lives?  Why do we care so much about whether or not Brad and Angelina are really happy in their new lives or where she would give birth?  Why do we love to hate K-Fed so much?  Why do we look at the mistakes Brittany has made with baby Sean Preston and gasp collectively when we have all made mistakes with our own kids at one time or another?   I am just as guilty as you at being enthralled with everything they all say and do.  I can't wait for the awards shows to see who shows up wearing really great clothes and who will be wearing the worst thing ever made.  So today I am bringing you not one website but two!  Both focus on celebrities and gossip and all the things we love to hear and see about:

suburbanscavenger.com

I absolutely LOVE this blog.  First because I love a great deal and it doesn't get better than this.  Second because it is something that a lot of people used to do and everyone is afraid to do now.  Im glad to see that someone still believes in dumpster diving!
I myself am guilty of driving down the street on trash day and wanting stuff that people have thrown away.  Occasionally I even stop and grab something.  In fact last year I got Katies swimming pool from someones trash pile.  It wasn't one of those blow up ones either.  It was one of the big solid square ones with the built in slide and a built in water squirter thing.
I recently read something that relates here and that has been bugging me.  Basically: "You can tell how spoiled our society is by the garbage we throw away".  Take a look at all the things this scavenger is finding and tell me it isn't so:

Unusual gifts for men

With Fathers Day coming up soon I thought this was an appropriate website to share with you!  This is mostly funny and unusual stuff.  From the Potty Putter to the Insulting Parrot.  If you are still stumped for a gift and your dad has a weird sense of humor like most do then you should be able to find something here!

Youth Smoking Prevention Program

Here is a great website that focuses on preventing kids from smoking.   They have a great list of tips about how to talk to your kids and not just your basic "do it" advice.  Everything is broken down to age appropriate advice.  They also have a resident parental expert Dr. Popkin.  To top it off, right now they are offering a voucher for two free movie tickets if you take the pledge to talk to your kids about smoking.  Use the movie tickets to go out with your child, watch a movie and TALK..

Boowa and Kwala

Todays website is just a really fun place for kids.  Boowa and Kwala has been one of my daughters favorite gaming sites since she was about two!
It is an Australian site and just loaded with a lot of fun, entertaining and educational games for kids of all ages.
What makes this place unique is the fact that even children who can't yet read can follow the instructions.  They not only use words for navigation but pictures as well.  Plus, the games are broken into categories for each age group which makes it very easy to find the right games for your child!  http://www.boowakwala.com/

Angels-Online

This weekend while I was at work we had the televisions on news stations.  This is about the only time I really ever watch the news.  One of our regular customers came in and was looking at the television and mentioned that all you ever see anymore on the news is more and more people getting killed.
Jokingly I said we should probably start a "good news" station.  Nothing will be allowed to be shown unless it is happy and uplifting.
Well the site I found today is just filled with stories of wonder and enlightenment.  It is all about Angels and stories from people who believe they have been visited or helped by an Angel.
Personally I am a big believer in Angels and spirits.  I believe we have Angels who help us in every area and aspect of our lives.
This website tends to back this up really well.  There are some beautiful and wonderful stories that I think everyone can enjoy:

Pink Cadillac

Now here is a great little blog!  It's main focus is on exposing Mary Kay and their cosmetics but it also talks about other scams.
It is amazing to see the sheer number of comments each post recieves.  Also there are quite a few past directors of the Mary Kay program who furnish documentation to back up all the claims.  It really is fun to see what is going on at this place.
If you are interested in Mary Kay or if you just like to read great gossip, this is the place for you!   http://pinkcadillac.typepad.com/

Its Free!

I don't think I have talked about the message board at www.katieshugs.com yet so Im going to tell you all about it!
It is actually the second message board for this website.  The first one never took off and I realized that it was just like all the other message boards at wahm sites.  So one day I got a bug and did a remodel.  The new message board at www.itsfree.proboards43.com took off in no time and is still going strong!
This message board is all about free stuff.  You will find an area with offers for free samples and coupons, a survey area where everyone shares information on the best surveys and what is happening with survey companies, there are areas for mystery shoppers, couponers, bloggers, and people who enjoy the paid to click/read programs.  There is an area just for fun where everyone shares about their days or asks questions and even a game area which is getting pretty large with the amount of games!
If you are looking for an online community or even if you are just curious, stop by and say hi!
